Beat the Blitz; Preseason Week One

Written By: Jason Beck @TheyCallMeDad_3

Football is back! As a result, dynasty owners will have a close eye on the upcoming match ups this week. With FAAB money in hand, waivers will be in complete pandemonium beginning Friday morning. However, I am here to help you beat the blitz of the waiver chaos, and key in on some potential positional battle winners that you can acquire cheap prior to kickoff.

Brian Hill:

Brian Hill put on an impressive showing last week during the HOF game. Hill is listed behind Ito Smith on the depth chart, but I believe he will jump Smith if he continues to prove his worth. Hill is currently trending on Sleeper so the window to acquire him cheap may no longer exist. However, he is worth getting a price check on from current owners. Atlanta has shown the ability to have two fantasy relevant running backs, and Hill could be Coleman’s long-term replacement if Smith fails to live up to expectations in ATL.

Damarea Crockett:

Earlier this week the Texans sent shock waves through the fantasy community by releasing D’Onta Foreman. This opens the door for players such as Damarea Crockett and Karan Higdon to move up the depth chart. Each of the two days following Foreman’s release, reports have been very positive for Crockett. The UDFA from Missouri was successful running the ball in the SEC over his college career, and he appears hungry to make the most of his opportunity. GO GET CROCKETT NOW! He will be a hot commodity Friday morning so get him for free while there is still time.

Darrel Williams:

Reports over the last week have not fared well for Chiefs current starting running back, Damien Williams, as he is dealing with a hamstring issue. Yes, it is early in the preseason, but these types of injuries can linger for a good amount of time. While the Chiefs did draft Darwin Thompson, I believe that he will be too expensive to acquire. Being so, I believe this a good time to buy Hyde’s soon to be replacement, Darrel Williams. Williams has been the forgotten running back this off season with the new additions, and his value is the lowest that it will be all season long. Be sure to put in a bid for Williams on Wednesday or start talks with his owner ASAP. Given the opportunity, Williams should move up the depth chart soon.

Dwayne Washington:

The Saints added Latavius Murray and Devine Ozigbo this off season to bolster the team’s running backs group that recently lost Mark Ingram. I believe Murray is in store for a fantasy relevant 2019 season, but the Saint could cut ties with him earlier than expected if the Saint’s young backs step up. Being so, I believe that Dwayne Washington is a player you can add now for very cheap that could have a substantial ROI in the near future. Washington showed himself to be a capable pass catcher while in college which bods well for this offensive scheme. Combine that with his 6-2, 226lb frame, and Washington could become Sean Peyton’s next fantasy stud running back.
